Nedbank serves clients across 217 micro-markets, with a focus on rural and underserved communities. In 2025 we processed 61 million PayShap transactions and helped 72 400 clients keep their vehicles and 10 000 keep their homes during financial difficulty. Affordable products such as MiGoals and MobiMoney help make banking accessible across income levels.

Nedbank's investment in community resilience operates alongside its core banking activity, targeting the gaps where commercial finance alone cannot yet reach, and strengthening the social and economic ecosystems its clients live and work in.

Social Impact Unit

 

The Nedbank SIU directs targeted investment towards education, skills development, entrepreneurship and community resilience. At December 2025, the SIU had 12 active projects, supporting 1 306 enterprises, creating 2 582 jobs and upskilling 2 551 individuals. This work delivered a social return on investment of 4.56 – meaning every rand invested generated R4.56 in social value.

Youth employment

 

As the largest contributor to the Youth Employment Service programme among South African banks, Nedbank provided 3 881 paid work opportunities in 2025, which helped give young people their first formal employment experience and a pathway into the economy.

 

Water and infrastructure

 

Water security is fundamental to the long-term resilience of SA's communities and economy. In 2025 Nedbank invested R5.4bn in water projects across the group, which addressed infrastructure gaps and supported sustainable water access for downstream communities.

Socioeconomic investment

 

Nedbank's total socioeconomic spend in 2025 was R226m, directed across education, green economy initiatives, community development and enterprise support.
