What you can expect

If you aspire to have an exciting career specialising in quantitative and capital risk management, joining this tailor-made graduate programme will help you achieve your dreams by opening up opportunities for you. You will have the chance to be rotated across several business areas for a period of up to 2 years, gaining extensive exposure to a broad range of quantitative risk management techniques, such as model development, model validation, scorecard calibration, and stress testing.

Even though you will join the various business units in an entry-level position, you will be treated as an indispensable member of the team. Your work will include the development and maintenance of models that form an integral part of our business processes, as the advanced risk measures produced by these models inform the bank's decision-making and strategy.

We pride ourselves on developing global business leaders with an entrenched social awareness and a vested interest in their surrounding communities, while being part of a bank that seeks to use financial expertise to do good.

#BeTheDifference: Corporate social responsibility

To date the Nedbank Quants Graduate Programme (along with the Nedbank CA Training Programme) has raised just over R900 000 for various community initiatives, the latest being Matla Combined School, a school for pupils from Grade R to Grade 12 (currently with about 1 200 pupils). The Nedbank CA trainees planted and established a sustainable vegetable garden to complement the school’s feeding programme.

Corporate social responsibility is a great opportunity for those involved in the programme to leverage their resources and #BeTheDifference in the lives of those in our communities and country.

A word from our programme's alumni

“QEP was an incredible opportunity to experience the Nedbank corporate culture which aligned well with my own values and skill sets. Working on interesting and challenging real world banking problems gave me first-hand experience of the Quants role in the bank all whilst engaging meaningfully with trainees and managers, building relationships and improving my skills. Attending the QEP was an incredible experience which allowed me to gain a unique insight into Nedbank, defining my career path.”

– Adam Bresler, Graduate Quantitative Analyst

“I gained so many relationships that I was able to leverage. I also learnt what it means to be a quant and if that job was for me. I also enjoyed the hands on help from the graduates and their compassion and feedback.”

– Maxine Khumalo, Graduate Quantitative Analyst

“My favourite part about QEP was the incredible experience I gained in such a short space of time. When I attended QEP, I had just finished my third year of studying and I was confused about what to do next. After a few days of collaborating with other students and learning from senior quants in the bank, I left the programme with invaluable networking skills and a broader knowledge on the quant world. I knew then that the quant industry was the best way to utilise and expand my skill set. I am so grateful to everyone who inspired me during the programme and I hope that we can inspire you too!”

– Jenna Duffy, Graduate Quantitative Analyst
